Feb. 16, 2017: Millions upon millions of gallons of water are going to rain down on already saturated California, Oregon & Washington possibly creating one of the most chaotic weather events in modern history. They are looking a 10 MORE days of rain, maybe more! I expect damage to be in the billions of dollars after this is all done, which is going to be a while.

Rainfall Projections Will Overtop Emergency Spillway by 13 Feet at Oroville Dam (313)

Published on Feb 16, 2017

With five overlapping weather forecast rainfall models, a full 3-5 inches of precipitation will fall in the drainage basin of the Oroville Dam, which will raise water levels faster that the damaged spillway can out flow over topping the emergency spillway by 13 feet. The last over top was 2-2.5 feet. Are you ready for the effects if the spillway ruptures as the water will damage natural gas pipelines, food deliveries and scour away roadways?

7 Days of Rain incoming to California & the Oroville Dam

Published on Feb 16, 2017

I gathered all the rain & precipitation models I could find to bring you a semi-comprehensive look at the flooding situation that is soon to be causing more problems in California.

We've got at least 4 storms, starting now & ending 7 days later.
This does not boe well for the Oroville dam & the people who live below the flood line.

Strange days, indeed.

God bless everyone,

Southern California Bracing For Heaviest Rain Event in 6 Years; Flood Watches Posted For Los Angeles, San Diego

The lull in West Coast storms is ending.

A major Pacific storm Friday and Friday night will lash Southern California hardest.

Flooding, debris flows, damaging winds, and heavy mountain snow are expected in Southern California.

Northern California may see its heaviest rain and mountain snow early next week. It's been one of the wettest rainy seasons-to-date in California so far A major Pacific storm will plow into California Friday, potentially bringing the heaviest two-day rain event the Los Angeles Basin has seen in over six years.

Flood watches have been posted for the entire Southland of California, including L.A. and San Diego, extending into the southern Sierra foothills below snow level. Even Death Valley National Park, considered the driest place in the U.S., is in a flood watch.

Flood watches are also posted in parts of northern California, including areas downstream from the Oroville Dam's problematic auxiliary spillway, damaged last weekend after being activated for the first time in decades.

The first round of this latest Pacific storm parade is already soaking northern California, as well as the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies below snow level.

Up to one-half inch of rain had fallen in much of the Bay Area as of Thursday morning. Parts of Marin and Napa Counties had picked up one-half to one inch of rain, while the wettest locations in Sonoma County had already exceeded one inch of rain, so far.

This current northern California rain is only the opening round of a nearly week-long string of storms the active Pacific jet stream will guide into the West.

Some of these storms will have a deeper tap of moisture, or atmospheric river, capable of producing at least a period of heavy rain, mountain snow and elevated snow levels.

Thursday: Wettest in Pacific Northwest and northern California; snow levels moderately high, then falling.
Friday and Saturday: Heavy rain threat for Southern California, with additional rain extending into northern California through early Saturday. Soaking rain for the Desert Southwest Saturday, including the Vegas Valley, Phoenix and Tucson.
Monday through Wednesday: Potential prolonged northern California heavy rain/mountain snow with snow levels lowering Tuesday/next Wednesday; Colder/lower snow levels in the Pacific Northwest.

According to the National Weather Service in Oxnard, California, Friday and Saturday could be the heaviest two-day rainfall event for the entire L.A. Basin since a Dec. 19-20, 2010.
So, this won't be just a foothills heavy rain event in the Southland. Most valley and coastal locations of the L.A. Basin should see at least 2 inches of rain through Saturday. Farther south,
Farther south, 1 to 2 inches of total rain is a good bet into San Diego County through Saturday.
Through Wednesday, many low elevations of northern California are likely to total at least 3 inches of rainfall.
Coastal ranges, and foothills of the Sierra and mountains of Southern California below snow level will see much higher rainfall totals. South-facing slopes of the L.A., Santa Barbara and Ventura County mountains will likely see the heaviest rain totals Friday and Saturday.
